About This Workshop

In this workshop Barbara will provide you with clear instructions of how to create handmade flowers using a range of techniques including cutting, folding, molding, sewing, and even melting fabrics and other materials. Once you’ve learnt the basics, there will be room to explore and get creative with your flower designs, to create both realistic and artistic looking flowers. These can be used for display on a stalk, millinery and embellishment, brooches and more. 


Date: Saturday 16 November

Time: 10am ­– 3pm

Cost: $115 + $5 materials fee to be paid directly to tutor on the day


What to bring – some fabrics provided. 

  • Pen, paper, pencil
  • Ruler
  • Sewing needles, pins
  • Any special materials or fabrics you might have (organza/tule)
  • Buttons, ribbons, or beads for flower centres/decoration

Tutor: Barbara Niglio. 

Barbara studied fashion and worked for many years as a professional seamstress and dressmaker. She has taught Diploma and Cert III in Fashion Design and Technology at Box Hill TAFE for over a decade. Now, Barbara uses her diverse range of skills to create clothing, jewellery and objects from recycled materials.
